Bambili : Student Gunned Down, Others Abducted.
By Raymond
Dingana.
Shock and consternation is still rocking Bambili following the
shooting to death of a Level Five Biology student of the Higher Teacher Training Collage [HTTC]
Bambili last Saturday November 09, 2019.Reports say, on the night of Saturday breaking
Sunday 10 November 2019, a group of armed men dressed in civilian attires stormed a student residential area and abducted Twelve students. As they
were leading the students to an unknown destination, one of them, level Five Biology
student of HTTC was shot and
killed.
Though the circumstances surrounding his death remains a mystery,
it is alleged he tried running away from his abductors but luck was not on his
side. His Lifeless body was
only found Sunday morning with bullet wounds while the whereabouts of the other
students remains a mystery.
In a Press Release dated 11/11’2019, the Senior Divisional Officer
for Mezam while condemning in very strong terms what he described as an
Unacceptable Barbaric Act, further enjoined the population of Bambili and Tubah
as a whole to fully collaborate with the Administration, Defense and Security
Forces in order to track down and denounce the hide out of those he called
Lawless Individuals.
He further reassured the population that investigations are on the
way to bring to book those he called, Bands of Outlaws.
It should be recalled that, the level of insecurity in Bambili and
the entire Tubah Sub Division has been on the rise
despite the hundreds of uniform men sent
there to maintain law and order. Unfortunately, their presence has not
bore the desired fruits for the security challenges in Tubah to reap. Some of these men in uniform according to many
especially students of the University of Bamenda have focused their eyes of the money they are
extorting from drivers , commercial bike riders and are also focusing their attention on women
forgetting what actually brought them there. To many others, the call for the
population to collaborate with the forces of law and order has already hit the
rocks and scattered into pieces because some are giving them
enough reasons not to do so taking in to account the way some of them
treat the civilian population. Many say, their only trust is in God Almighty
saying, he is the only one who can guarantee their security. They also frowned
at those kidnapping students calling on them to stop because it is not helping
matters saying time is coming when they will be forced to also take the bull by
the horn.
