“The
work shop was organized as a result of frequent violations of the Digital
Rights of users. In 2017 when the internet was shut down in the NW/SW Regions
of Cameroon, the Digital Rights Coalition was created. We realized that, the shutdown
was infringing on the rights of those using the internet. In the workshop, we were able to
touched on a couple of issues on Human Rights and Digital Rights, we have touched
on the internet shut downs among others. If the Cameroon government decided to
shut down the internet in 2017, it was because they felt that, the spread of
hate and fake was bringing chaos in the country”.
