NW Governor Challenges Elite To Work For Return To Peace

North West Governor, Adolph Lele L’Afrique has challenged Elites of
the region to spare no effort in bringing back peace in the region.
Lele L’Afrique was speaking a day after a bomb went off killing one soldier and
wounding seven others including one civilian at the Bamenda Commercial Avenue Grandstand
when women were celebrating the 35th edition of the International
Day of the Woman. On Monday March 09, 2020 after paying a visit to the exact
location where the locally made bomb went off around Santa Park, few meters
away from the grandstand, Lele L’Afrique challenged Elites of the region to
work for peace to return to the region and fight against those he said are
fighting for the devil.
“I’m asking the Elites, Traditional and Religious leaders and people
of all walks of life to mobilize every day to do something towards life coming
back to normalcy to the region. I am therefore appealing to the North West
population that, they started by troubling the economy of the region, blocking
the construction of roads, killing, burning, including the hospitals,
preventing our children from going to school and on Sunday, they targeted the
women, those who give life to the society and it is a clear message that, they
are fighting for the devil”
He furthered that, investigations were ongoing and that five persons
were under investigations but said he was not going to say anything further
saying they are still protecting the witnesses and those carrying out the
investigations.
Lele L’Afrique also appealed to everybody to rally as one man to fight
against ghost town and lock down operations. He said enough is enough and that
they have to put an end to lock down and ghost towns operations in the NWR of
Cameroon saying all security measures have been put in place to make that
happen.
He added that, Bamenda is ready to fight against those he addressed as
devils whom he blamed for all the atrocities taking place in the NWR.
It is worth recalling that, the women’s day bomb blast also led to the
burning down of nine sheds leaving the victims in total shock with many still
to recover. Thanks to the timely intervention of the Army Rescue Unit led by
Senior Warrant Officer, Taku Paul Buifor, Chief of Center, Army Rescue Bamenda,
the fire was prevented from moving on to consume other buildings.
