Rebuilding NW/SW: PPRD Will Not Wait For Killings To End-Tasong.

The National Coordinator of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development for the NW/SW Regions says, the plan cannot wait for killings and sufferings to end before taking off. Tasong Paul was speaking during a question and answer session with the Press, Friday June 26, 2020 on the last day of his five-day visit to Bamenda.
Quizzed
on whether it wouldn't have been better for the PPRD to wait for the killings and
destruction in the NW/SW to stop in order that, beneficiaries don't continue to
die while reconstruction is going on, He said:
"if the presidential plan has to wait for death and suffering to stop, then the presidential plan should better not exist. This is because its objective is to make sure that, there is no suffering and death".
Destruction Caused By The Anglophone Crisis
To a stake holder who answered present on the D-day of the visit whose aim was to create awareness and sensitize beneficiaries of the PPRD, the minister's responds was clear indication that, human lives meant nothing to the government of Cameroon.
"All
what the minister has been saying about restoring human dignity is a sham. It
would appear they are reconstructing for dead people or trying to prove to the
world that, they are still in control. How can we be talking development in
times like this? Their mission here was just another safari trip to continue
wasting tax payer's money".
People Continue To Die As The Crisis Continue Unabated. |
Minister Paul Tasong also said, what he was taking back was a lot of satisfaction because they came to raise awareness and sensitize the population which is what they have done.
He
furthered that; it will make no sense waiting for peace to fully return before reconstruction
and development. This according to him is because, it is just one other
steeping stone on the path to peace. He said many other initiatives have been
unfolded for normalcy to return to the two restive regions of the country. He
intimated that, the plan is not an end in its self but, an initiative to attend
sustainable peace within two years.
Reconstruction
and Development before Reconciliation and Peace was a worry that was recurrent
during Minister Paul Tasong's five-day visit to Bamenda. Talking to the DrayInfos, many still wonder whether the PPRD will actually
work when bullets continue to fly.
