Cooking Gas Filling Center Soon In Bamenda

By Raymond Dingana

Bamenda and the North West Region as a whole will soon get a cooking gas filling station worth about five billion FCFA.

The project will cover a surface area of ten hectares of land.

The announcement was made in Bamenda by the General Manager of the Hydro-Carbon Stabilization Fund, Thursday 28th January at the Bamenda City Council during a meeting with the Mayor Paul Achobong and other members of the north west administration.

''Our board meeting that sat 30th of December 2020 validated this project for Bamenda. I want to say say this is a project worth at least four to five billion francs. It will need a surface area of at least six to ten hectares of land. This year is for feasibility studies and the construction will be in the 2022 budget. Its a very delicate project that takes a lot of studies. The cost to run down to Bafoussam to get cooking gas and the price will be advantageous.''

He also appealed to the senior divisional officer for Mezam, Mooh Emile Simon to help facilitate the realization of the project by ensuring that, the site is chosen very fast.

He furthered that, a technical team will be coming to make sure that, the paper works for the land and others are done within the shortest possible time.

On his part, the president of the regional council invited the population to work together and see in to it that, the project is realized.

During his installation, he said they will produce cooking gas from refuse and latrines.

If the project is finally executed, the pain people go through to get cooking gas coupled with the high cost will be a think of the past.
