The role of women is further amplified and cemented by the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 which states that:

" The resolution reaffirms the important role of women in the prevention and resolution of conflicts, peace negotiations, peace building, peace keeping, humanitarian response and post conflict reconstruction and stresses the importance of their equal participation and full involvement in all efforts for the maintainance and promotion of peace and security. It urges all actors to increase the participation of women and incorporate gender perspectives in all United Nations peace and security efforts,"

As stated by the Project Coordinator of Community Resource Center for the Disabled and Disadvantage, Gladys Foncha, they are organizing peace talks in the communities with women associations,

"We are doing this so that women as mothers and as wives can talk to their husbands and sons especially those who are holding the guns and they will listen to them because the men have a soft spot for women.A man has a soft spot for the wife and the sons have for their mothers. So when we send out this information on peace, they will listen and stop the fighting that is destroying us,"she said.

Society watchers have however frowned at women especially those in the North West and South Regions for not using their numerical strength and other natural endowments to help bring back peace in to the two restive regions of the country.
