Mayor Tanjong was speaking recently in Bambili during the Council's Administrative and Management Account Session of the Council. We resolved during a meeting with collaborator and transporters trade unions that they will start paying 250frs per day to help develop the municipality. Anglophone Armed Conflict: Easter Sunday Shootings Leave Families In Tears

Image
By Raymond Dingana It was at about 11pm on Easter Sunday, a night which was supposed to be a moment of enjoyment but ended in tears. While drinking and dancing were ongoing at a popular drinking spot at Ntaturu, one of the boiling points in the ongoing war ravaging the Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon,  gun men in military attires were approaching and from every indications, they were not there to take part in the feasting but to pop the guns. As they moved closer and closer to the snack where the population had gathered, an eye witness said deafening gunshots started rattling the air causing many to escape for their lives. As the soldiers started shooting, that was when we realized that saparatist fighters were also around that area as they responded with heavy gun fire, he said. Two young persons were not lucky enough as they were hit and they died on the spot. They had walked to the drinking spot alive only to leave the place liveless in the bag of a vehicle. The Colbert Factor: How Punctuation Marks Can Put Meaning Back Into The Anglophone Conflict

Image
By Colbert Gwain This reflection is inspired by the fact that far from being a boring and remorseful assemblage of dots and dashes, (just like the five-year prolonged Anglophone conflict), punctuation is so rich a field for the study of human nature that many readers could be so barren to realize. Historically, punctuation marks and/or their absence thereof; have caused and/or stopped wars. Illustrations of punctuation that can cause war do not come in short supply. Come to think of a Commander giving the following instruction to soldiers at the battle front: 'Stop not, fight.' There can be no doubt in any soldier's mind that they have been charged to intensify the onslaught on the enemy. Now, consider that the commanding Officer gave the order in another way: 'Stop, not fight'. The shuffling of the position of the comma from after 'not', to before 'stop', would automatically stop the intended onslaught thereby ending a conflict. In plain, simple ter...
