Local Development: Tubah Council Invites Transporters Onboard, Charged Them A Token
By Raymond Dingana
The Mayor of the Tubah Council, Tanjong Martin has invited transporters taking persons to that council area to contribute their own little quarter to the development of the municipality.
Mayor Tanjong was speaking recently in Bambili during the Council's Administrative and Management Account Session of the Council.
We resolved during a meeting with collaborator and transporters trade unions that they will start paying 250frs per day to help develop the municipality. This is because the taxis are registered in Bamenda City and are plying Tubah, Mayor Tanjong said.
He also explained that the transportaters were to be paying the 250FCFA per trip but they decided in the meeting that the payment should be per day.
Bless is a Taxi driver and one of those who say the idea is good since it is for the good of the municipality,
We have to develop our own. The idea is good and I will to tell my colleague to obey the council and help develop our communities.Che,another transporter is not against the idea but says the Tubah Council should also look in to the many security check points which he says is not a problem but the poor treatment they suffered from their hands,
More than ten security checkpoints along the Bamenda-Bambui-Bambili, Bambui- Babanki have been erected and there are only extorting us on a daily basis. The council should also have a say here. We prefer to give to our councils than feeding uniform officers, Che pointed out. Many of those who spoke off records indicated that the burden on them is already tomuch especially in the hands of uniform officers who collect money from them sometimes at gun point.
