At HIHMATech Graduation Ceremony, CEO Reiterates Need For Skill-Based Certification

The old habit of focusing on accademic certificates and ignoring competence has come under fire from the CEO of HIHMATech International University Foundation, Dr. Shei Claude Nfor.

During the graduation ceremony of the 2022 batch of students of HIHMATech with majority of them being Nurses, Saturday July 02,2022 at the comfrence room of a renown hotel in Bamenda, Dr.Shei intimated that the vision of HIHMATech is to professionalize people and not bombarding them with academic certificates they can not defend anywhere,

We are out to impact youths with skills and recognize their skills. We issue out skill-based certifications to our students. This is because we want employers to know us and also recognize our products and what they are capable of doing, he explained.

Dr. Shei further said that they are trying to promote a situation where certicates are backed with skills, where recruitments are done after a task has been performed and not looking at certicates and asked to join the team.

To better the education and professional lives of students of HIHMATech, the school has also signed a Memoradum of Understanding, MOU with other professional and higher learning institutions,

For those who want to further their education,we have gone in to international partnership with KESMOND International University, our mentor, Dr.Said.

Speaking on behalf of the graduating students, the School Union President, Shembom Aseh Lesley said..

It was not easy sailing through but we thank God, our parents and lecturers for being there for us. We were told to pick ourselves if employers don't pick us by being self-employed because we have the skills to do that. We are ready to give back to our communities thanks to the skills we gained from HIHMATech,

She invited the youths especially young girls who may have given up on education to start thinking on going back to the lecture rooms because education is the key.

As indicated by Ndong Tanui Clinton and Fai Nelson, they will not sleep on their certicate. They promised to use the certificates and be more productive.

While Ndong said he was going to start contributing his own little quarter to ensure that his community enjoys good health care services, Fai who received a certificate in Carpentry and Furniture designing said he will give his best in his area of specialty.
