The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Front political party (SDF), Ni John Fru Ndi has once again taken off war from the tables as far as fixing the problems of Cameroon is concerned.
During a brief come together with the media at his Ntarinkon residence in Bamenda, Wednesday December 28,2022, chairman Fru Ndi indicated that though he won the presidential elections in the 90s, he gave a deaf ear to war mongers who wanted him to plunge the country in to a war,
When I won the elections and they said I should go to war to seized my victory, i said I prefer to let go the victory than go to war and get my children killed,
Chairman Fru Ndi said before continuing that,
war is not a good thing. I have seen what war has done to many countries and supporting the idea of war in the North West and South West regions will be the last thing I will ever do.
He added his voice to those calling for separatist fighters to drop their weapons and give peace a chance for the growth of the country.
Based on Human Rights Watch’s (HRW) report, at least 6000 civilians have been killed by both government forces and armed separatist fighters since late 2016 in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon.
Almost six hundred thousand persons have been internally displaced and more than 77000 people forced to become refugees in Nigeria, said HRW.
