NWRA,UNDP Donate To Persons With Disabilities,Others At Regional Cultural Fiesta

More than five hundred persons including those With Disabilities (PWDs) have benefited from the magnanimity of the North West Regional Assembly (NWRA) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme [UNDP] to accompany them during this festive period.

This was Friday 23 December 2022 during a Cultural end of year Festival organised by the NWRA partnering with UNDP at the esplanade of the Senior Divisional Officer's Office.

Rice, Cooking oil, Seasonal cubes,Salt,Washing soap amongst others were some of the items that the beneficiaries took home.

One of the recipients, Buba Abubarkar Ismaila who has been on a wheel chair since 2016 following an accident appreciated the donors for thinking about them during this period.

I am very happy to have received the items.With all these , I will not be going out anytime soon to look for what to eat. The blanket will also help me especially now that the nights and early mornings are always very cold, said Buba. 

Buba also used the event to thank North West Governor,Adolphe Lele Lafrique for supporting him with a wheel chair after he suffered a spinal cord injury in an accident in 2016.

Beneficiaries 

The President of the NWRA,Hon Fru Angwafo III told the media that for almost six years now,life has been hash on the people.

Movement of persons and goods have been difficult. Imagine therefore the needy,people who are physically challenged,orphans and the sick. This is a season where we share and the Regional Assembly thought of all those that are in need, explained the president.

Apart from sharing with the needy, the fête was also a moment for cultural displays in the form of music with many of the opinion that rising music star, Jato Sonita and her group stole the show. Praises were showered on one of the youngest members of the group known as Ezemou,(name given to a chief preist in Nigeria).

Other highlights of the day included the election of Mr. and Miss Culture.Ndonwi Fidelia and Munyu Emmanuel   were crowned  Mr. and Miss Culture, North West respectively.

Both pleged to be Ambassadors of North West Culture and to do all within their powers to sell the civilization of the region to the entire world.

It should be recalled that the armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon has been on the neck of cultural jamborees. In the North West, the Lela's of Bali amongst others have not taken place because of the crisis. 

The end of year cultual fiesta organized by the NWRA and UNDP was an opportunity for the population to enjoy a bid of what they were served before the crisis.

Sama Hilda  By Raymond Dingana Sama Hilda, business woman, and a mother of two was kidnapped near her Mile 6 residence on Tuesday, September 24, just one day after a two-week lockdown imposed by non-state armed groups seeking to reclaim what they claim is the lost sovereignty of a country they call Ambazonia. According to investigations conducted by a team of Drayinfos reporters, Sama Hilda maintained communication with her husband and other family members while in captivity. The armed men opened these communication channels, demanding a ransom of over 2 million FCFA. Sources revealed that raising such an amount was a daunting task, given the hardships faced by the population in this crisis battered region. Bamenda Acid Attack Victim Breathes Her Last

  Late Dr Bongka Vivian  By Raymond Dingana Bongka Vivian, after a courageous battle for her life, has taken her last breath. She joined the heavenly choir on Monday, October 28, 2024, in Douala. Bongka Vivian was the Head of the Department (HOD) of Bilingual Letters at the Higher Teachers Training College (HTTC) of the University of Bamenda. She was a victim of an acid attack perpetrated by her husband. Her last journey on planet earth began on Saturday, October 12, 2024, when her husband, Ebai Elias, poured acid on her at the Alahlieh neighborhood in Nkwen, Bamenda III council area before taking his own life by drinking some of it, and died on the spot. Vivian had previously taken a break from her marital home due to her husband's abusive behavior. On that fateful Saturday, she called him to see if he was home, as she wanted to collect some personal belongings. Nollywood Star, Sylvester Madu's Visit To Bamenda Triggers Blood Flow

  Sylvester Madu After The Incident   By Raymond Dingana Several persons have been confirmed dead and many others seriously wounded after gunmen opened fire at a popular drinking spot at the Mile 3 neighborhood in the crisis battered Bamenda in the North West Region of Cameroon. The wounded were rushed to the Nkwen District Hospital in the Bamenda III Council area other hospitals around after the incident.  Reports say the incident that happened on Saturday at about 1opm in Nkwen breaking Sunday November 25 is said to have been triggered by by the presence of popular Nigerian Movie Star, Sylvester Madu, AKA Shina Rambo in a snack bar in that area.
