The Divisional Officer for Bamenda II, Nicolas Nkongho Manchang has said the idea to create a Bamenda II Council burial ground is not an initiative that he can buy.
During the Bamenda II Council's Administrative Account Session that took place on Thursday May 25,2023, the creation of a council cemetery was brought forth as a means to create revenue for the municipality.
The idea that was midwived by a report presented by the Wellfare Committee during the council session was not bought by the Divisional Officer.
Creating burial grounds gives the impression that we are praying for people to die. The Social and wellfare committee should instead invest in life saving projects and curb the rate at which people die and not prapering a place to bury them when they die,
said manchang.
Revenue collection has been a serious issue for the Bamenda II council with the situation worsened by the council's inability to collect council taxes from markets.
This is because the city council has taken over the markets as explained by Mayor Peter Chenwi of Bamenda II. There are reports of workers of Bamenda II and City Councils clashing at the Food market over revenue collection.
Another challenge faced by the local council as pointed out during the council session is insecurity.

Mayor Chenwi Peter of the Bamenda II council thinks if the population supports them, the story will be different in terms of revenue collection which will also go a long way to permit them carry developmental projects in the municipality.
