ICT University Founder,Prof. Mbarika's Leadership Prowess Earns Him Excellence Award In London

The Africa Achiever's Awards Committee has honored the founder of ICT University, Prof. Victor Mbarika with the Excellence in Leadership Award.

The award recognizes his numerous engagements in multiple  actions that have continued to boost growth  and human development.

The Internationally acclaimed Scholar and Philanthropist was conferred the Excellence Award in London on July 14,2023 making him the first Cameroonian to attain that level.

The distinction came on the recommendation of the Advisory Board and under the authorization granted by Board of Trustees.

He received the award signed by Dr. Susan Fajama Thomas, Chairperson of the Africa Achiever's Award  and Dr. Tonye Rex Idamination, FRSA and Chief Executive of the Awards Committee at the palace of Westminster, United Kingdom’s Houses of Parliament.

The recognition ritual was carried out in the presence of Lord Simon Wooley, member of the House of Lords in the United Kingdom.

In the history of the Africa Achiever's Awards, Prof Mbarika's came after the likes of South Africa’s Nelson Mandela; Tanzania’s Julius Nyerere; Burkina Faso’s Thomas Sankara; Liberia’s Ellen Johnson and Ghana’s Nkwame Nkrumah, Kenyatta.

Prof. Mbarika was saluted for using the event to bring honour to Cameroon as he dressed in the colours of the country.

 As a means to portray my patriotism and honor my country, I decided to present myself in a tie with Cameroon’s flag.

He thanked  God for  bestowing such honour on his person before dedicating the recognition to his country Cameroon.

He also saluted his father, George Mbarika for instilling leadership skills in him at a tender age describing his father as his hero.

He promised to continue mentoring more  people, and also  honouring the ICT University and his family and the country around the world  where he has continued to shine.

The African Achievers Awards appreciates excellence in African leaders  who have continued to escalate growth  and human development. 

Prof Mbarika is a scholar who has supervised several PhD students. He is a pioneer in ICT and development, a field which he is making impact across  Africa and the world at large.

Sama Hilda  By Raymond Dingana Sama Hilda, business woman, and a mother of two was kidnapped near her Mile 6 residence on Tuesday, September 24, just one day after a two-week lockdown imposed by non-state armed groups seeking to reclaim what they claim is the lost sovereignty of a country they call Ambazonia. According to investigations conducted by a team of Drayinfos reporters, Sama Hilda maintained communication with her husband and other family members while in captivity. The armed men opened these communication channels, demanding a ransom of over 2 million FCFA. Sources revealed that raising such an amount was a daunting task, given the hardships faced by the population in this crisis battered region. Bamenda Acid Attack Victim Breathes Her Last

  Late Dr Bongka Vivian  By Raymond Dingana Bongka Vivian, after a courageous battle for her life, has taken her last breath. She joined the heavenly choir on Monday, October 28, 2024, in Douala. Bongka Vivian was the Head of the Department (HOD) of Bilingual Letters at the Higher Teachers Training College (HTTC) of the University of Bamenda. She was a victim of an acid attack perpetrated by her husband. Her last journey on planet earth began on Saturday, October 12, 2024, when her husband, Ebai Elias, poured acid on her at the Alahlieh neighborhood in Nkwen, Bamenda III council area before taking his own life by drinking some of it, and died on the spot. Vivian had previously taken a break from her marital home due to her husband's abusive behavior.   Sylvester Madu After The Incident   By Raymond Dingana Several persons have been confirmed dead and many others seriously wounded after gunmen opened fire at a popular drinking spot at the Mile 3 neighborhood in the crisis battered Bamenda in the North West Region of Cameroon.
