The National President of the Cameroon National Youth Council (CNYC), Fadimatou Iyawa Ousmanou says for North West (NW) bureau to attain her desired development goals, team work must come into play.
She was speaking recently during the first ever Budget Orientation Debate session of the CNYC NW in Bamenda.
This was after the the NW Regional President of the CNYC, Mekom Samuel presented a basket full of projects and a projected sum of above FCFA 840million intended to execute them all in a bid to better the lives of young persons in the region.
To Fadimatou, if such an amount is ever going to come to fruition, it must be thanks to collaboration between the Exco and members of the Regional Bureau given that they only depend on state subventions to run their affairs.
"I salute the NW Regional Bureau for having such a great proposal of what they are intending to do. Youths leaders need do to work hard to raise funds and execute their projects. The budget presented is not money that has been kept somewhere. This is why the president is inviting you all to help him knock at the right doors so that you can be able to raise funds,"
said Fadimatou.
On his part, Mekom Samuel indicated that
"We are working for the interest of the Youths in the region. That's why about 80% of the budget goes directly to empower the youths. They will also be educated on how to be patriotic citizens, and lots more"
As far as their success story for 2023 is concerned, Mekom Samuel said they granted more than 80 scholarships to university students, they fought for the recruitment of more than 800 youths, sensitisation campaigns against Gender Based Violence, among others are some of the areas they intervened.

Kouamo Arnaud who is CNYC President for Tubah Sub Division said the youths of Tubah and Nkwen need to be schooled on peaceful resolution of conflicts.
"There is a need to educate the youths of Bambili and Nkwen on the importance of peaceful resolution of land disputes. We will equally educate the student community in Tubah to shy away from uncivil behaviors like promiscuity and cyber criminality."
One area the CNYC has been focusing on is peace building. According to Ndiangah M. a youth in Bamenda, the CNYC should be bold enough to tell the authorities to put an end to the sufferings of the youths especially in the context of the Anglophone Crisis, a genuine dialogue should be organized not with friends of the government, but with those carrying guns and their sponsors.
She adds that youths are being killed almost everyday, yet the CNYC behaves as if it's a none event.
She also indicated that this is one of the things that will make people like them to take the Council serious.
