National Day Celebration:Tubah Mayor, Population Praise Divisional Officer For Successful Event

On Monday, May 20th, 2024, the mayor of Tubah, Tanjong Martin, local leaders, and residents celebrated the Divisional Officer (DO) for Tubah, Masango Metugue Narcise, for organizing a successful National Day celebration in Tubah Sub-Division, Northwest Region of Cameroon.

According to many in Tubah, since Masango Metugue Narcise became Divisional Officer for Tubah some years ago, National Day celebrations like February 11th (National Youth Day) and Reunification Day have continued to be observed, despite the ongoing Anglophone crisis in the region.

On May 20th, which is celebrated as Unity Day in Cameroon, the DO and his team mobilized hundreds of people for the celebrations. They gathered at the University of Bamenda sports field to commemorate Cameroon's 52nd Reunification anniversary, presided over by the Divisional Officer.

The event included an ecumenical service led by Pastor Boris, who offered prayers for the return of lasting peace to the division, and was celebrated with the theme: "Army,and Nation Under a United, Peaceful and Prosperous Cameroon." 

The mayor of Tubah, Tanjong Martin, expressed his gratitude to the DO and all those who contributed to the successful event.

" I want to thank the DO, service heads, forces of law and order for a successful event. Despite the challenges, we are proud to have had such a colorful national day celebration in Tubah,"

 said Tanjong Martin.

The General Manager of Upper Noun Valley Development Authority (UNVDA), Mr. Adanfung Erick, also celebrated the return of normalcy to Tubah, stating,

"I'm happy that Tubah is coming back to life, and we would do all to ensure the peace continues to reign."

The Divisional Officer, Masango Metugue Narcise, acknowledged that the journey to restore normalcy in Tubah has not been easy, but he appreciated the support and participation of the community in making the national day celebration a success.

The event also saw the decoration of two police officers, Egbe HAROLD (Commissioner of Public Security Bambili) and Amando Njah Victor, who received medals of the Forces of Law and Order. President Paul Biya also honored Fompowou Mohamed Moustapha with the medal of the Order of the Army, or the Forces for Maintaining Order.

The celebrations featured both military and civilian marches, as well as other socio-cultural activities, all aimed at promoting unity and peace in Tubah Sub-Division.

Road Accident Leaves Two Persons Dead Along Bamenda-Bambili Stretch

Chattered Vehicles As A Result Of Accident  By Raymond Dingana Township taxi drivers in Bamenda are still in shock following the death of one of theirs who died alongside his passenger at the Mile 6 neighborhood in Nkwen, on the Bamenda-Bambili road, Friday March 15, 2024. The accident that didn't only take away lives but caused enormous damages on the two vehicles involved has been attributed to over speeding. "The black private car was on top speed when it suddenly found itself on the other said of the road colliding with the taxi. Taxi On Fire In Ntarinkon Bamenda  By Raymond Dingana Over the past few days, gunmen suspected to be separatist fighters have been targeting taxi drivers in Mezam Division, in Cameroon's North West Region. Taxi drivers say these incidents have been recurring since Mezam Senior Divisional Officer (SDO), Simon Emile Mooh signed a Prefectoral Order banning the circulation of motorbikes from 6:30 pm to 6:30 am until further notice. The drivers believe the SDO's decision to restrict motorbikes has triggered these latest attacks on them, as rumors have been circulating that armed men have also imposed a ban on their own activities during the same hours.
