     Panic Erupts in Nkwen Amid Heavy Gunfire On Tuesday June 18th at about 8pm,  residents of Nkwen, Bamenda III Sub-Division were forced to return home as early as 8 pm due to the sound of intense gunfire in the area. Bars that were playing music at high volumes immediately shut down, and the number of people, motorcycles, and vehicles in the streets significantly decreased. The cause and potential casualties of the gunfire incident are still under investigation. By Raymond Dingana On June 16, 2024, the Youth Outreach Programme (YOP) hosted the second edition of the Youth Festival of Arts and Culture (YouthFESTAC) to celebrate the Day of the African Child in Cameroon's crisis-affected North West Region. The event that took place at the Big Mankon Cathedral Hall, featured a variety of cultural activities, including traditional dance competitions, a fashion design contest, and a cross-country race. Despite the ongoing socio-political challenges in the region, YOP organized this festival to provide young people with an opportunity to engage in and celebrate their cultural heritage. Traditional Dance Competition In the traditional dance competition, the Forest Children group from the Northwest region took first place in the junior category, winning 200,000 FCFA. Death Toll Rises After Ndogbati-Douala Arson Attack

Remains Of Arson Attack Victims By Raymond Dingana  The devastating arson attack in the Ndogbati neighborhood of Douala has now claimed four lives, two children,and two adults. The death toll has risen with the passing of 39-year-old Lewou Pierre on June 12, 2024. Lewou succumbed to his injuries at the Douala General Hospital, four days after his house was set ablaze allegedly by his neighbor, Joseph Ngounou. Lewou and his wife sustained severe burns in the fire, which also claimed the life of their child. The tragedy unfolded when Lewou acted as a Good Samaritan, helping Ngounou's wife Alida escape domestic violence on the night of June 8. Ngounou is said to have threatened to kill his wife and anyone sheltering her. "Lewou Pierre was a calm and peace-loving person. Everyone is devastated. Four Family Members Die Of Suspected Food Poisoning In Ikiliwindi

   Sympathizers At The Hospital Where The Four Victims Were Pronounced Dead By Raymond Dingana  Security operatives have launched an investigation into the tragic deaths of a father and his three children in Ekiliwindi, a suburb of Kumba, Cameroon. According to reports, the family of five had eaten Eru, a popular dish in the South West Region, on Wednesday, June 5th. Afterward, the father, Mr. Nfon, and three of his children - Nfon Francis, Nfon Delight, and Neba Endurance began complaining of severe stomach pains and were rushed to the Three Corners Ntam hospital. Sadly, despite the hospital's efforts, all four family members passed away.   The family's young son, recounted the incident, stating that the Eru had been prepared by their mother. He noted that the smell of the dish was not appropriate, and he had expressed concerns about its condition, but their father insisted the family eat it. Taxi On Fire In Ntarinkon Bamenda  By Raymond Dingana Over the past few days, gunmen suspected to be separatist fighters have been targeting taxi drivers in Mezam Division, in Cameroon's North West Region. Taxi drivers say these incidents have been recurring since Mezam Senior Divisional Officer (SDO), Simon Emile Mooh signed a Prefectoral Order banning the circulation of motorbikes from 6:30 pm to 6:30 am until further notice. The drivers believe the SDO's decision to restrict motorbikes has triggered these latest attacks on them, as rumors have been circulating that armed men have also imposed a ban on their own activities during the same hours. On Tuesday, June 4th, 2024, eyewitnesses said gunmen dressed in civilian attire attacked Akondi, a taxi driver in the Ntarinkon neighborhood of Bamenda II Council area.
