Panic Erupts in Nkwen Amid Heavy Gunfire
On Tuesday June 18th at about 8pm, residents of Nkwen, Bamenda III Sub-Division were forced to return home as early as 8 pm due to the sound of intense gunfire in the area. Bars that were playing music at high volumes immediately shut down, and the number of people, motorcycles, and vehicles in the streets significantly decreased. The cause and potential casualties of the gunfire incident are still under investigation.
Muslim Faithful Seek Intervention in Bamenda Prayer Ground Land Dispute
Following Eid al-Adha celebrations on Sunday, June 16th, Muslim faithful in Bamenda have called on the government to intervene and resolve a land dispute that has arisen over their prayer ground in Old Town, Bamenda II Sub-Division. Imam Adamu Garba stated that the Muslim community has been praying on that land for years, but those he described as "infiltrators" have now emerged, claiming ownership. He said they met some persons there and they told them that the land is theirs. "The document that the presented was fake, but the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam Simon Emile Mooh brought out another document saying that the land belong to the infiltrators." Imam Garba said they will fight for the land because it's theirs. The Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam, Simone Emile Mooh, is yet to make an official statement on the matter.

Student Killed In Bambili Road Accident
An fatal road accident at Mile 9 Bambili has left young student dead. The motorcycle he boarded was struck by a vehicle near Mile 9, Bambili. The young man was initially taken to a nearby health facility in Tubah before being referred to the Bamenda Regional Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the vehicle reportedly fled the scene, and it is unclear if he has since turned themselves in to the authorities.
Attacks on Taxis Continue in Bamenda
Armed men of unconfirmed identities have continued to target township taxis in Bamenda. On Tuesday, June 17th, a taxi belonging to a person with mobility Impairment was set ablaze at Che Street, Bamenda II Sub Division. A similar incident occurred a few days earlier near Mile 7, Nkwen in Bamenda III. These attacks have caused many taxi drivers to consider relocating to other towns where they can work without the level of stress they are facing in Bamenda, Mezam Division, North West Region. This is because while their taxis are being roasted by armed men, security forces are on the other hand impounding their vehicles for having blue and white colors mixed with the yellow color irrespective of when they have been using the colors. Speaking to drayinfos, a driver who only wanted to be referred to as Ndi said he paid hefty sums because his taxi has multiple colors including yellow, blue, and white. He said he has been using it like that before the Anglophone crisis started. Many told drayinfos that they have paid, and are still paying dearly for a crime they didn't commit.

Fon Angwafo III Calls for Bamenda Main Market Reconstruction
The Fon of Mankon, Angwafo IV, has added his voice to the growing calls for the reconstruction of the Bamenda Main Market, where a fire destroyed a large portion of it on Thursday, February 22, 2024. The Fon emphasized that the market should not only be reconstructed, but that a modern architectural design should be highly considered to ensure the structure can stand the test of time. He was speaking during an event organized by a group of women from his Fondom, whose mission to the Palace was to assist some of the victims of the Bamenda Main Market fire incident.Fon Angwafo IV disclosed that the Bamenda Main Market is the economic hub of the Northwest Region. He regretted that the fire consumed a large portion of the market, creating a situation where many traders, especially victims of the disaster, could not find a place to display their products.Despite the authorities' statements about the reconstruction of the market, the population remains uncertain about when the reconstruction will commence and be completed. The Fon urged the government to expedite the reconstruction process, as the market's swift restoration is crucial for the economic well-being of the region.
Man Curses Soldiers For Damaging His Car With Armored Vehicle In Bamenda
On Sunday, June 16th, around 7 pm, a Cameroonian military armored vehicle hit a car from behind in Bamenda. The armored vehicle was descending from Mobile Nkwen, honking to clear the way, but due to the congestion and narrow, poor road conditions, other vehicles were unable to create a passage. The military vehicle hit the car damaging the back before driving off. As it drove off, the victim rained curses on them. Onlookers advised the car owner to file a complaint. He said it would be a waste of time,and that it will bear no meaningful fruits. He however noted that Divine Justice will be served.
Medical Personnel Killed in Bafut
A medical practitioner whose name we got as Hansel who was highly regarded by the Bafut community, was killed in Bafut, one of the pivot of the Anglophone crisis, on Friday June 14, 2024. The circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear, and no one has claimed responsibility for the incident. His passing has sent shockwaves through the community, as he was a trusted healthcare provider.
