Mayor Peter Chenwi Welcomes CMF Members, Emphasizes Need For Divine Guidance In Leadership

Mayor Peter Chenwi Dancing With CMF Members

By Raymond Dingana

The Mayor of Bamenda II Council, Peter Chenwi, has underscored the importance of leaders seeking divine guidance as they carry out their duties. Speaking during a visit to the Council by members of the Christian Men Fellowship (CMF) Ntamulung, a group he joined since 2006, Mayor Chenwi noted that a leader who leads without God is doomed.

"Leadership without God is a failure. As the Bible says, 'unless the Lord builds the house, the laborers toil in vain.' You cannot lead a people without Christ, which is why the CMF members are here today on an evangelism mission to the council,"
said Mayor Chenwi.

He further emphasized the need to change the mindset of the people, moving beyond just discussing politics and insecurity.

"It's high time we started changing the mindset of the people and not only talking about insecurity, because the Holy Spirit can transform us without us knowing. My prayer is that there should be love, unity, and that we should be our brother's keeper."

Chenwi expressed his concern that barbarism and other ills are taking over communities because God is no longer in people's hearts. He explained that his limited participation in CMF activities has been due to the prevailing insecurity, which has led to the kidnapping and killing of many Christians.

"I haven't been able to go to church and function like a full fledge CMF member because of insecurity. Many christians have been kidnapped, others killed all because of insecurity."

The mayor also handed trash canes to the ground to keep God's compound clean.

Speaking on behalf of the CMF Ntamulung, the president, Dr Mbaya Justin said their visit to the Bamenda II Council was a fulfillment of their outreach evangelism mission.

"We thought it wise to evangelize at the council because we understand the stress the mayor and workers of the council are going through. They need some spiritual upliftment, which is why we are here."

The CMF members also brought along some developmental projects, including the need to carry out an outreach to their national secretariat by working on the road.

In recognition of Mayor Chenwi's outstanding services and contributions to the church and community, the CMF presented him with a certificate of appreciation.
