In a significant move towards enhancing educational standards, Shalom University Institute in Bamenda and Institute Universitaire De La Pointe (UIP) in Bafoussam have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership aims to provide quality education to the students of Shalom University Institute.

The MoU was signed on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the campus of Shalom University Institute located in Mile One, Bamenda I Sub-Division, North West Region of Cameroon, in the same building as Shalom Clinic, the teaching hospital for health and biomedical sciences of the institution.

According to Dr. the Proprietor of Shalom University Institute, Shei Claude Nfor, this MoU is highly beneficial for his institution and its students.

"The Memorandum is opening doors for academic partnership and quality assurance in higher education. Institut Universitaire De La Pointe is coming in to ensure that students of Shalom University Institute receive valid certificates recognized by the state of Cameroon and internationally,"
stated Dr. Nfor.

He futher added, 

"This partnership is also going to help Shalom University benefit from other facilities, such as state-of-the-art laboratories, that UIP has already put in place to train its students, and Shalom University Institute students would now have access to these facilities."

Representing Institut Universitaire De La Pointe at the signing, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Lukong Hubert Shalanyuy, explained the focus of the partnership. 

"We are going to combine students from Shalom University Institute with our students and register them in the University of Bamenda or the University of Douala for the award of Bachelor's and Master's degrees. This is to ensure the training offered is in accordance with the requirements of the aforementioned universities," 

he said.

Dr. Shalanyuy also highlighted that the partnership with Shalom would create opportunities for quality education, internship placements, and timely delivery of certificates.

The signing ceremony also included a question-and-answer session, which opened up wider opportunities for the students of Shalom University Institute.

According to the partnership agreement, Shalom University Institute students can now pursue their Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. programs with mentorship from state universities within and outside Cameroon, including the University of Bamenda, the University of Douala, and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana.
