Bongka Vivian, after a courageous battle for her life, has taken her last breath. She joined the heavenly choir on Monday, October 28, 2024, in Douala.

Bongka Vivian was the Head of the Department (HOD) of Bilingual Letters at the Higher Teachers Training College (HTTC) of the University of Bamenda. She was a victim of an acid attack perpetrated by her husband.

Her last journey on planet earth began on Saturday, October 12, 2024, when her husband, Ebai Elias, poured acid on her at the Alahlieh neighborhood in Nkwen, Bamenda III council area before taking his own life by drinking some of it, and died on the spot.

Vivian had previously taken a break from her marital home due to her husband's abusive behavior. On that fateful Saturday, she called him to see if he was home, as she wanted to collect some personal belongings. He claimed he was away, but when Vivian arrived, she found him there. The circumstances that led to the acid attack remain unclear.

Following the attack, Ebai died on the spot after drinking of the acid while Vivian's screams alerted neighbors, who rushed her to the hospital.

Since then, she had been fighting for her life, striving to recover and return to her family , friends, colleagues, and students. Unfortunately, despite her determination, the pain became unbearable, and she finally succumbed to her injuries.

Vivian was called to glory on the night of Sunday, October 28, 2024. She leaves behind family, friends, colleagues, and students who are mourning  her passing deeply.
