As parents in the North West Region of Cameroon prepare vaccinate their children against Polio from October 24-27, 2024, those spreading false information to undermine the health campaign are not relenting.

This explains why Dr. Derick Ngwa Awambeng,Communications supervisor from the central level for the campaign against Polio in the North West Region of Cameroon is urging parents to watchout for those spreading unfounded information about the Polio Vaccine.

Reason Why No Child 0-5 Years Shouldn't Be Vaccinated

He encouraged the community to disregard the misleading claims of these individuals and to prioritize the health, and future of their children by ensuring they receive the Polio vaccine saying vaccination is the best way to prevent Polio, and other vaccine-preventable diseases.

"Those who go around spreading false information that the vaccines are not safe are totally wrong. This is because they don't understand what it takes for a vaccine to be accepted in the country. There is a structure that is working tirelessly to ensure the vaccines are not only safe, but effective,"

said Dr Derick.

He added that

"It's totally unbelievable to even think that the government would want to kill it's people through vaccines. We started receiving vaccines when we were young and if the aim was to Kelli us, no one could have still been alive today."

He also underscored the critical importance of vaccinating children aged 0-5 years against Polio.

"It very important to vaccinate a child between the ages of 0-59 months. The vaccine is free, and it helps prevent children against diseases that are costly."

"An unvaccinated child risk contracting Poliomyelitis which can lead to paralysis. Imagine you put to bed and after five years your child can't work because of polio, a vaccine preventable disease."

From October 24-27, 2024, vaccination teams will be mobilized to administer vaccines to children aged 0-5 years. A door to door strategy will be employed, targeting high traffic areas such as schools, churches, markets, road junctions, and motor parks.

A Child Vaccinated Against Polio Is Free From A Situation Like This. Encourage Everyone To Vaccinate Their kids

Parents and guardians are urged not only to vaccinate their own children but also to encourage others to do the same. Unvaccinated children are at a heightened risk of contracting Polio, which can lead to paralysis and other serious health complications.
