The role of gender equality in enhancing the performance of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) cannot be overstated. Gender equality entails equal access to opportunities, resources, and the means for both genders to empower themselves. Unfortunately, many NGOs continue to overlook this crucial development tool.

During his thesis defense, Tenjoh Ngo Armstrong, a BSc holder in Communication and Development Studies, (CADs), Faculty of Arts, University of Bamenda (UBa) who now holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Higher Institute of Commerce and Management (HICM), emphasized that for NGOs to achieve optimal growth, they must implement gender friendly policies. 

He stated, 

“NGOs should establish policies that not only support gender equality but also boost the morale of women, enabling them to execute their tasks effectively with the aim of promotion and growth.”


Armstrong further advocated for a participatory approach in policy making, project planning, and program design, ensuring that women’s voices, and opinions are given priority. He argued that such inclusivity would foster commitment and engagement among female employees.

“Another advantage is the potential for higher performance and diverse solutions to problem-solving, especially during conflicts,” 

Tenjoh noted. 

He emphasized that good governance thrives when there is mutual participation in policies, project planning, and implementation.

Tenjoh Ngo Armstrong pointed out that NGOs incorporating Gender Mainstreaming into their frameworks gain a competitive edge over those that do not. 

Tenjoh Armstrong's insights underscores the the urgent need to escalate the urgent need to promote gender equality within NGOs, underscoring its vital impact on organizational success.

His work to promote gender equality in NGOs put the jury in a position where the only thing they could do was to award him an Excellent Grade.

  Late Dr Bongka Vivian  By Raymond Dingana Bongka Vivian, after a courageous battle for her life, has taken her last breath. She joined the heavenly choir on Monday, October 28, 2024, in Douala. Bongka Vivian was the Head of the Department (HOD) of Bilingual Letters at the Higher Teachers Training College (HTTC) of the University of Bamenda. She was a victim of an acid attack perpetrated by her husband. Her last journey on planet earth began on Saturday, October 12, 2024, when her husband, Ebai Elias, poured acid on her at the Alahlieh neighborhood in Nkwen, Bamenda III council area before taking his own life by drinking some of it, and died on the spot.
