The Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalists (CAMASEJ) Bamenda Chapter has welcomed a new leader with the election of Sah Terence Animbom as president after beating the incumbent, Muma Jude. This was during the Association's Elective General Assembly that held at the conference room of the Cameroon Human Rights Commission's Office in Bamenda.
Sah Terence Animbom's victory was met with enthusiasm and camaraderie among members, as 40 votes were cast in favor of Animbom, while the incumbent, Muma Jude Awa, received 29 votes. The election that held on January 24th, 2025, was overseen by a dedicated Elections Commission led by veteran journalist Choves Loh, with members Fung John, Emmanuel Woloko, and Juliette Afunui. Out of 71 eligible voters, all but two participated in the election.
Animbom's compelling manifesto resonated with the electorate, emphasizing his commitment to transparency, innovation, and equal opportunities. He outlined a strategic plan aimed at mobilizing resources to realize his vision for the association.
Voters were impressed by Sah’s campaign, where he mentioned that resources are already gathered to implement his plans. He said he is committed to working with the principles of Vision, Innovation, Values, Equal Opportunities, Transparency, and Accountability. Team Sah has proposed an action plan, providing a checklist for members to hold them accountable for their promises.
“We will start with a leadership workshop for all executive members to help align with our vision and establish a leadership code of conduct. We have secured a partnership with Minnesota Women’s Press, a women-led newsroom in the United States. This partnership will help CAMASEJ Bamenda's women journalists publish internationally and improve their skills,”Sah Terence said.
Furthermore, Sah Terence announced plans to launch three thematic reporting awards worth over FCFA 1.2 million, start a paid news project, enhance professional exchange visits, set up a strict financial management system, and expand international opportunities for members.

Animbom also expressed his team's commitment to improving social cohesion within the association, and also to establish a code of conduct that will guide members
“We will also strengthen social bonds among members by inviting all senior and founding members of CAMASEJ to a discussion. We aim to create a chapter code of conduct and eliminate any groups that disrupt unity among members,”
the president stated.
Reacting to his victory, Sah Terence expressed gratitude to the voters for their trust. He said,
“It’s a great honor that CAMASEJ Bamenda trusts me to be their leader for the next four years. It’s a wonderful opportunity, and I have a strong team of dedicated journalists. This is not about one person; it’s about all of us working together to make CAMASEJ Bamenda successful.We are open and ready to listen to the criticisms, proposals, and suggestions from the people who elected us.”

- Public Relations Officer: Seraphen Loh,
- Social Secretary: Lendzemo Lakelle.
There is hope that this team will revitalize the association and make all members feel included for the growth of CAMASEJ Bamenda.
Who Is Sah Terence Animbom?
Sah Terence Animbom is a multiple award winning and seasoned investigative free-lance international journalist. He has had a remarkable career with local media in Cameroon. The former Spectrum Television reporter and present North West bureau chief of The Sun Newspaper is also the country Director of Médias et Démocratie, an Afro-European organisation of journalists working in 12 African countries, France, Italy, Germany and the UK.
He is an accredited solutions journalism trainer and a recent recipient of a Mention Spéciale de Prix de Droits de l'Homme de la République Française.
He has a wealth of International experience and brings to the team his training in Transparency and Accountability, Democracy and good governance from the US Department of State sponsored Community Solutions Program. He is married and a father of two.
