Bamenda II Mayor Assists Commercial Bikers Ahead Of Christmas

By Raymond Dingana The Mayor of the Bamenda II Council Peter Chenwi has assisted bike riders in his municipality with 150 bags of rice ahead of end of year festivities. He has also promised to pay for the production of identification documents for them. This he said will help mitigate the rate at which commercial bike riders suffer harassments in the hands of uniform officers as they struggle to put food on the table. By Rosaline Obah Hundreds of civilians at the Mbengwi road neighborhood in Bamenda have seen their rights to shelter taken away from them by heavily armed men dressed in military uniforms that resemble those worn by the Cameroon army. Some of the shops at Hospital Round About also went up in flames caused by same men in military wears. According to Atuh, a resident of that neighborhood, the attacks on residential areas came after suspected separatist fighters used an explosive device on a military vehicle. Growing up, she discovered one of her obligatory household chores was to fetch water for cooking, bathing and drinking. She would trek for long distance just to get the prescious liquid. Originally, it was an exciting exercise for young Kewoh Cynthia Faith as it gave her opportunity to commune with other children in the neighbourhood too and fro the water source.  With population pressure, drought and uncertain climatic conditions, Cynthia Faith realized the original water source nearby was drying off and she would need to walk longer distances to fetch water for her personal and family use. She is Asah Nadia Sirri, 20 years of age. She was voted Miss FEHACU 2021 after challenging five other contestants in the race to the top. They were all tested on the basis of Expression, General Nkowledge, Cultural Projects to be realized among others. They made their mark ones again at the just ended Festival Heritage of Arts and Cultures FEHACU 2021 that rounded off Sunday November 29,2021 with a Thanks Given Service at the Nkwen Baptist Church in Bamenda. For two days, PWDs proved to the world that when it comes to talent exhibition, thinking about them in the background is a monumental error. They stood tall in Arts and Craft, traditional dances, beauty pageant contest among others and this earned them big during the prize award ceremony.
