Bamenda Acid Attack Victim Breathes Her Last

  Late Dr Bongka Vivian  By Raymond Dingana Bongka Vivian, after a courageous battle for her life, has taken her last breath. She joined the heavenly choir on Monday, October 28, 2024, in Douala. Bongka Vivian was the Head of the Department (HOD) of Bilingual Letters at the Higher Teachers Training College (HTTC) of the University of Bamenda. She was a victim of an acid attack perpetrated by her husband. Her last journey on planet earth began on Saturday, October 12, 2024, when her husband, Ebai Elias, poured acid on her at the Alahlieh neighborhood in Nkwen, Bamenda III council area before taking his own life by drinking some of it, and died on the spot. Vivian had previously taken a break from her marital home due to her husband's abusive behavior. On that fateful Saturday, she called him to see if he was home, as she wanted to collect some personal belongings. The seriousness of the situation has prompted Community Spokespersons (CSPs) in Ntambag commonly known as old town to leave their comfort zones and engage directly with these schools to intensify advocacy against GBV. The Victim Lying Dead After He Was Electrocuted  By Raymond Dingana A  young man, identified only as Kenneth, was electrocuted to death by a high tension cable while working at a construction site in the New Road neighborhood, Tuesday October 15, 2024. Kenneth went out, Tuesday October 15 insearch of daily bread only to be snatched away by the cold hand of death. Sources indicate that the story building Kenneth was in was positioned too close to high tension cables. His lifeless body was retrieved from the scene by the Army Rescue Unit. Gender equality entails equal access to opportunities, resources, and the means for both genders to empower themselves. Unfortunately, many NGOs continue to overlook this crucial development tool.
